“We’re in a very different world environment right now,” said Ian Bremmer, president of Eurasia Group, a political consulting firm. “The United States has diminished credibility — it can’t simply tell Europe what to do. And it lacks the political will or means to throw a lot of cash at European troubles, even though they could become American problems very quickly.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/17/business/global/europeans-struggle-to-clear-hurdles-to-latest-euro-rescue-plan.html

And to think of the number of stupid people who will vote for more-of-the-same.

I’m really hurting inside right now because I just realized that I’m a 22 year old guy that has no real companion to share my deepest feelings with. I’m overly emotional; I’m known for crying at weddings (especially when i was at the head table at my sisters) and even during songs like that Leona Lewis Bleeding Love song i heard today. Do you think I’m depressed? I have a good job as an account manager at a political consulting firm and go to night classes every day…I’m busy but I don’t think thats the reason for my intense sadness right now because I feel like that keeps me busy and away from thinking about myself. Their were a few girls that I dated in the past couple months but they were not looking for anything serious. What do you think I should do to put myself out there without looking desperate? I am obviously not used to being alone.

It sounds like a mild case of clinical depression. Its ok to be a little emotional sometimes but if these feelings persist, go to your doctor for a talk ESPECIALLY if you have thoughts of suicide. As far as the girlfriend situation goes, your still young and it seems that you do have a fairly busy life so dont worry too much about that. I know you would like companionship so maybe you can found out about speed dating in your community or go online or just do it the old fashioned way and go to your favorite places and see whos there.. Be friendly and socialble and you might just get lucky : ) good luck and i wish you the best

As if sleeping with a former campaign aide wasn’t bad enough, John Ensign (R-Nev.) has a new headache:

"Early last year, Senator John Ensign contacted a small circle of political and corporate supporters back home in Nevada — a casino designer, an airline executive, the head of a utility and several political consultants — seeking work for a close friend and top Washington aide, Douglas Hampton. . . .

"The job pitch left out one salient fact: the senator was having an affair with Mr. Hampton’s wife, Cynthia, a member of his campaign staff. The tumult that the liaison was causing both families prompted Mr. Ensign, a two-term Republican, to try to contain the damage and find a landing spot for Mr. Hampton," the New York Times reports.

"In the coming months, the senator arranged for Mr. Hampton to join a political consulting firm and lined up several donors as his lobbying clients, according to interviews, e-mail messages and other records. Mr. Ensign and his staff then repeatedly intervened on the companies’ behalf with federal agencies in Washington, often after urging from Mr. Hampton."

Republicans are even boring when they are being sleazy.

Senator John Ensign used campaign donations to pay his former mistress’ son, The teenager was listed on the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s payroll as a policy analyst during the 2008 elections. The young man was removed when Ensign’s extramarital affair went public. Ensign also asked that his mistress’ husband be put on the payroll of the Republican Senate Campaign Committee’s political consulting firm. The Republican Party’s attempted cover up and their hypocrisy, in light of the many sex scandals that have included under age males, is stunning. Wasn’t Ensign another of the cheating Republicans who voted to impeach Bill Clinton?

http://rawstory.com/2010/03/emails-broad…

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/070…

Rick, How long ago was it that Republicans called for an investigation of Eric Massa? A couple of weeks ago? And his behavior wasn’t near as offensive.

I think the timing of this question is impeccable. The democrats pass a health care reform bill that is not popular and you write a question bashing a republican from years ago. Good timing.

I’m 29 years old and getting married for the 2nd time. The first time my ex had a very bad temper problem and there was some abuse. The last and final time I left was because I no longer felt safe in the house -he kicked a door shut while I was in the doorway and almost broke my arm.

After I left, I admit that I dveloped a drinking problem a month later that lasted for about 5 months. I was aware of, and during all this time I was in therapy. The marriage had long been over, we had separated once before (as my therapist says I had already gone through the stages of grief before it was over). We had a very succesful political consulting firm. He was the face of it, I make the machine turn and worked from home. For this reason no one remembers me as anything more than his wife – even though I was the mastermind of several important strategies that led those people/candidates to win..

So I lost my career, I lost my husband (he refused to get help for months prior to the final incidents) I had to work two jobs including bartending as the only white girl at a hip hop club plus a seconf semi-fulltime job in a small publishing house.

Three months after I left, I met the true love of my life. As time had gone on in our marriage, I realized that I had been in love with an idea (a crusading team that saves the world) not the man. I am now in love with the man and have not one doubt that he is my soulmate and I feel so privileged he picked me to be his wife Every time I look at my ring there is this sense of joy, safety, and the reassurance that everything will be okay.

I have found bliss.

But all the motions are so haunting… Registering at the same places, trying to everything different so it will be completely unique from the last wedding… I would run to some small romantic place to get married, but my fiance wants and deserves the wedding he has always wanted…

My mother loves him (most because he’s going to law school), but the family response has been underwhelmeing. Bridal magazines are saying I can’t wear a veil. My ex, whom I had been friends with, apparently found out and defriended me on FB (I will always care about him and he’s back where he belongs, with an easy teaching shop a girl 11 years his junior who is a Sarah Palin fan – which is funny because I described her exactly when we would get in fights and I was like you need to marry a sorority girl from the Midwest who like Sarah Palin and I ain’t it)

My family is nuts anyway, but all of this hurts.

Advice? Help?

I think that your wedding day should be about you and your fiance. Have you told him about the problems you’re having? Because I think you should. You may think he wants the big wedding, but he may be willing to compromise, but if you don’t tell him what’s wrong, he’ll never know.

If you want to wear a veil, you can wear a veil… who cares what those wedding magazines think? It’s your wedding, not theirs.

after 24 other judges said the law is constitutional. And one is dirty.

Surprise! Henry Hudson, the federal judge who ruled health care reform unconstitutional owns as much as $50,000 worth of stock in a GOP political consulting firm that opposes health care reform. According to financial disclosure forms spotted first by the Huffington Post and then Gawker, Hudson has made between $32,000 and $108,000 in dividends since 2003 from shares of Campaign Solutions, a firm that’s worked for anti-Obamacare crusaders like Michele Bachmann, John Boehner, Sarah Palin, and John McCain.

The law suits were brought in districts where there was a high concentration of Judges expected to rule in favor too.

The U.S. government has the power to regulate anything that effects interstate commerce. County emergency rooms are required to treat anybody from any State that comes in. Medical insurance is used across state lines. So a State can regulate what insurance their citizens have but cannot regulate what insurance if any the patients they have to treat have. That is exactly why we have the commerce clause to begin with. There are many laws that require the purchase of commercial products including that you must buy life jackets to take people on a boat and seat belts for your car. There is no chance of it being unconstitutional.

Henry Hudson, the federal judge who ruled health care reform unconstitutional today owns as much as $50,000 worth of stock in a GOP political consulting firm that opposes health care reform.

It gets worse: Ken Cuccinelli, the Virginia attorney general who brought the suit Hudson ruled on today, paid Campaign Solutions $9,000 for services rendered this year. But Campaign Solutions maintains that that doesn’t amount to a conflict of interest because Hudson was an investor long before George W. Bush appointed him to the bench, and has no knowledge of the firm’s day-to-day affairs.

Unbelievable compulsive denial from the right.

No, he is just wrong. He is simply another in a long line of folks who is dedicated to making Obama a one term President. If you let him, he wins.

We require insurance to drive – we can require health care.

Recently revealed-Bristol’s son is covered by the health insurance available to native Americans. Her grandfather on her father’s side had a native American ancestor. How thin does the bloodline have to be before it vanishes?

It’s not much ado about nothing. Sarah Palin is making the argument that the government shouldn’t provide coverage for low income families, while members of her own family are covered by the government. Furthermore, the document basically says that the kid has no need for private health insurance because he’s already covered by a government plan. Individuals choosing a government plan over private insurance is one of the reason Sarah Palin is against the public option. Why is that acceptable for her family, but not for the rest of us? Bristol Palin owns a political consulting firm and is a paid spokesperson for at least one national campaign. On what planet is she a low income mother?
Ladystang, contact your local Native Tribal Council.

todd palin was never indigenous until he found out it got him an edge in contracts. they are all liars and hypocrites. they don’t even like native alaskans as shown by her referring to them as artic arabs and f***ing eskimos. but they will then take services meant for those people when they can afford it themselves.

yeah. the perfect poster child for the hypocrisy of so many in america

@ladystang…its for enrolled citizens of tribal nations only. and its so underfunded that you wouldn’t want your dog to receive the treatment many native people get in those clinics.
